Nautica, is the Latin word for ships, founded in 1983 by David Chu.
Nautica has evolved from a collection of men’s outerwear to a leading global lifestyle brand with products ranging from men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and watches to swim, denim, fragrance, and all housed lines.
In 2003 Nautica was sold to VF Corporation for $1 billion. David Chu subsequently launched another designer label called "David Chu".
